ACE for Honi

ACE has won the elections to edit Honi Soit !

The call came in. Breaths were held. Fingers crossed. The worst was feared.

But, what kind of ending would that make?

In an unbelievable and electric night, the ACE team has been elected to edit your student newspaper.

We couldn’t be more proud, more grateful or more humbled.

We wish to collectively thank every single person who contributed to the campaign, supported us or voted.

There are however a few people in particular without whom none of this – any of this – would be possible:

Tim Mooney is a force to be reckoned with and a true hero of a man. As our one and only campaign manager, he was the driving force, the beating heart, the extended metaphor of the entire campaign. We bow down to him.
Larissa Rembisz is a tireless trooper who left us all in awe of her talent, determination and sheer bloody dedication. We are indebted to her.
Courtney Tight and Pat Bateman supported our team and let us use their names for posters that may or may not have implied voters would be killed by Serena Williams should they fail to vote ACE. They are legends.

There are countless others; they know who they are, but rest assured that they will all be thanked in time.

We earnestly congratulate the other tickets in the race for a formidable and well-fought campaign.

More updates to come, after some much needed sleep, panadol and showers.

Greetings Ace-venturas:

We’re swiftly approaching the elections on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the ACE campaign is a buzz with excitement, adrenaline, caffeine and cornflower blue t-shirts.

The response to the videos we’ve been posting has been electric! The day we posted ‘The Bunker’ it rocketed to the 13th most watched comedy video in Australia, with people like Dom Knight from The Chaser watching and commenting on it.

We’ve also been screening some of the videos in lieu of the traditional lecture bash to the pleasure, amusement and relief of untold numbers of harassed students.

So, who’s ready for Wednesday and Thursday then?!?

Remember: Pre-polling starts on Tuesday at the SRC offices at the bottom of Wentworth, so if you won’t be around on Wednesday or Thursday or you’re just a keen bean then vote early!

Some brief news from the campaign trail:

• Joe Smith-Davies lost his phone last Sunday, meaning any attempt to call him or wake him up when he sleeps in has become futile.
• A raft of new ACE posters hit the streets, and the best are yet to come.
• Joe Payten made himself a blue ACE visor which serves two purposes: making sure the sun stays off his face and making sure no female ever talks to him.
• Carmen Culina’s ACE singlet is yet to be washed.
